Jovan Rivera-Lovato, Behavioral Therapist

Jovan (they/them) was born and raised on Cheyenne, Ute, and Arapaho homelands currently occupied by the state of Colorado. Their critical consciousness began developing at birth and was enriched by gender-based violence prevention programs in high school, Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies programs in their undergrad, and

Women's and Gender

Studies and Social Work programs in graduate

school. Throughout their education and practice,

they've developed a women of color feminist lens

which they hope to mobilize in service of

movements for social change. As a therapist, they

practice Relational-Cultural Therapy, integrating

tools from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and

Solution Focused Therapy. They're a licensed social

worker and instructor of Gender, Women's, and

Sexuality Studies at Malcolm X College in Chicago.

Internship Opportunity

More Maitri maintains a relationship with the University of Denver and the Metropolitan State University of Denver.  Through these relationships we are able to offer a hands-on experience for students to put theory into practice.  Through this process we provide our community with the therapeutic diversity that ensures all mental health needs are met and supported.
